Arrival and Transfer to Gangtok

Arrive Bagdorgra Airport/ New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/ Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminal, Siliguri. Meet & assist and start the  journey to Gangtok by reserved Car/ Tourist Vehicle. This journey is of nearly 135 Kilometers and 3 ½-4 hours drive. Gangtok is a perfect destination for tourists in search of enchantment, tranquility, trekking or many other adventure activities. This is the Land of Monasteries, Mystic Rituals and Ethnic Festivals at an elevation of 1,437 meters/ 4,715 feet. Gangtok is the most often visited by tourists for its rare Orchids and Butterflies. Check in the Hotel. In the evening, you are free to stroll around M G Marg/ Local Market. Over night stay at Gangtok.

Gangtok Local Sightseeing

After morning breakfast in the hotel, start excursion for local Sightseeing in Gangtok and nearby. Local sightseeing includes 7 to 8 points viz. Rumtek Monastery or Ranka Monastery, one of the oldest and most beautiful monastery of India, Ban Jhagri Falls, Shanti View Point, Institute of Tibetology, Ganesh Tok, Cottage Industry, Flower Show, White hall & Tashi View Point. In the evening, guests are free to stroll around. Over night stay at Gangtok in the Hotels/Resorts provided on Day 1 in accordance with package Deluxe/ Luxury/ Premium.

Towards Lachung Valley

Early in the morning, after breakfast at Hotel/Resort, start your breath taking journey to Lachung (117 Kms/ 6.5 Hrs). Lachung, literally means a small pass, is a picturesque hamlet in North Sikkim located close to the Indo–China border. Tourists must have to get permission from the government before visiting this breathtaking beautiful hill station. It is also famous for apples, peaches, apricots, Rhododendron flowers as well as the exquisitely woven rugs and blankets. During the trip en route visit  Singhik View point, Chumthang Valley, Twin Falls and Vima Falls. Have lunch on the way at your own cost near Mangan, the headquarter of North District. Evening is free to explore the beautiful Himalayan hamlet by your own. Dinner shall be provided at the hotel and stay overnight.

Excursion to Yumthang Valley & Zero Point and Journey to Lachen

Get freshed early in the morning and after breakfast at the Hotel/Resort, start for the awaited journey to Yumthang- the Valley of Flowers, which takes you to a different world of ice spilling even on roads. At an altitude of 12,000 ft., the natural Scenery of Yumthang is so beautiful that it is very hard to distinguish it from the landscapes of Switzerland. During the excursion, visit en route Hot Spring and Singba Rhododendron Sanctuarywith the Yumthang Chu flowing through. This is a place of ultimate natural beauty and a perfect place for leisurely and scenic stroll. In this area, April and May promises colorful flowers like  Rhododendron & Orchids, where as November end to March usually sees snows.

After a break at Yumthang Valley, move to another paradise of Sikkim- the Zero Point or Yumesamdong, which is very close to Indo-China Border. Situated at an altitude of 15300 ft., is an ideal place of snow lovers. It is a land of such a perennial snow that words could fail to explain.

Now, move to Lachung and have lunch at the Hotel. After a short break start the journey to Lachen. Lachen is a beautiful hamlet in North Sikkim at an altitude of 9,000ft having valley with grassy land and scattered forests of Rhodendrons and conifers. The mountain stream Lachen Chu flows through it in deep gorges and on the other side of the river are large mountains with pine forest and snow peaks. Lachen is the base point for those heading towards Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. As the lake is situated at quite an elevation, it is better to make a stop and let the body adjust to the altitude. Overnight at Lachen.

Excursion to Guru Dongmar Lake & Chopta Valley and Back to Gangtok

The excursion trip to Guru Dongmar Lake starts from Lachen early in the morning by 3:30 AM because the weather conditions near Gurudongmar usually starts becoming bad as the day progresses, so you need to leave the lake area and start for Lachen by around 9 AM.

Your first stop will be at Thangu, a tiny hamlet with only a handful of village huts and a large army base. Thangu is a valley with lush meadows located at an altitude of 13,000 ft and about 35 kms north of Lachen. It takes over 2 hours to reach Thangu from Lachen. There are a few stalls here where you can take tea and hot noodles for your breakfast. Thangu is the last civilian settlement along this route.

From Thangu the distance to Gurudongmar is about 40 kms. Although the distance looks short, it requires about 4 hours to reach Gurudongmar from Lachen (so about 2 hours from Thangu). This is because it is a gravel road made of stones & boulders and very rough. Further along the way you will pass through army check posts. The final check post is the Gaigaon Check Post at an altitude of 15,000ft. This is the highest altitude check post in the world.

Located at an altitude of 17800 ft, Gurudongmar is one of the highest lakes in the world, which lies in the Northern side of the Khangchengyao Range and is encircled all around by snow-covered mountains. The Chinese Tibetan border is just a few kilometres away from the lake. The holy water of the lake is believed to have the miraculous power of granting children to issueless couples. The name Gurudongmar is derived from the name of the Guru Padmasambhava who is thought to have visited Tibet through this area. There is a temple of the Guru besides the lake. The lake is believed to be sacred by the Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists.

On your way back from Gurudongmar, stop at Chopta Valley located at 13,200 ft near Thangu. It is only 2 kms from Thangu towards Gurudongmar. So while returning, Chopta Valley will come first and then Thangu. This is a picture perfect valley. During summer and monsoon (May to September) the valley is carpeted with flowers such as primula, rhododendrons and several different kinds of wild flowers.

Back to the hotel at Lachen by about 2 PM and have lunch. After some rest, start for the journey back to Gangtok. Check in the Hotel by late evening. Over night stay at Gangtok in the Hotels/Resorts provided on Day 1 in accordance with package Deluxe/ Luxury/ Premium.

After breakfast at Hotel/ Resort, leave Gangtok and proceed towards– Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station/ Siliguri Bus Terminal for your onward journey. Here the tour ends with sweet memories.
